As marines lie bleeding in the dirt
Killing each other
For target practice, sport and
Insanity

It is bloodletting time
In the land of oil, honey and exotica
The killing fields are manned by troops
American voices hear the call
Let freedom ring

I hide my head, my bruised hands
Twisted in anger
Nightmarish sweats

I cannot pretend
To blind belief
I see the young marine
In Iraqi anonymous dung and dirt
Dazed, bloody, lost
